Changes on the Canadian FIFA List 2017
22.03Unexpectedly, three match officials from Quebec decided to retire from refereeing and, consequently, they will be removed from the FIFA List at the end of this year. Referee Mathieu Bourdeau (36) ended his career after only two years on the FIFA List due to work and family commitments. Assistant referees Marie-Josee Charbonneau (34) and Suzanne Morisset (32) joined Carol Anne Chenards team and successfully represented Canadian refereeing at the highest level in womens soccer (World Cup, U-20 World Cup, Olympic Games). In spite of their remarkable achievements, both Charbonneau and Morisset decided to prematurely retire, although they may have had good chances for the 2019 FIFA Womens World Cup. On the other hand, assistant referee Oscar Mitchell-Carvalho (34, photo) has been promoted to the FIFA List effective 1 January 2017. The Canadian FIFA list includes 2 referees, 5 assistant referees, 4 women referees and 2 women assistant referees.
