Futsal Referee Symposium in Quebec
22.20The Quebec Soccer Federation hosted an International Futsal Referee Symposium in Montreal. The event was attended by 40 participants, who had the chance of being the first group in the world analyzing video clips from the 2016 FIFA Futsal World Cup held last month in Colombia. The teaching material was brought over by Ed Marco (USA), who attended the World Cup as a FIFA referee assessor. In Montreal, Ed Marco, along with Bob Tibbo and Joe Audi, conducted video sessions on various topics, such as protecting the players, severity of offences, handball, teamwork. They also instructed a field session on referee signals and positioning.
As part of an exchange program between QSF and FFF, there were also two representatives from France: Romuald Bourgois, former FIFA futsal referee and currently FFF referee coordinator for futsal, and Aurelien Uzan, national futsal referee. Bourgois started the symposium with a conference on �How to be a good referee� and then led a video session on various technical aspects. Uzan conducted a FIFA futsal fitness test and spoke about fitness training, nutrition and preparation for futsal referees.
